Murky News Plays King Maker in Sup 2 Race

posted by Reinhold Niebuhr at
The mercury news aka "The Murky News" is at it again, in their desire to be king maker they resort to slandering the character of a well respected community leader. The Murky News once again demonstrates that they are out of touch with the community. It seems that Murky News no longer considers serving your country and working with high school youth, a job. The fact that the Murky can’t get their facts straight is probably due to the fact that they are a failing newspaper and are changing reporters everyday. This piece of junk was probably written by one of their interns. Because of the Murky’s push for more sunshine measures, they have lent their support to Hobbs, it would seem that in their desire for openness the Murky News is going to require that candidates subject themselves to a Murky News colonoscopy as a precondition for their endorsement. The Murky News is desperate and wants drama to sell their ratty trash liner. In Hobbs, they see the future resident contrarian that can setup roadblocks and stifle progress which in turn provides them with their much needed headlines. The Murky News might as well should bring back the USS Maine and plant it in Alviso (USS Maine sunk in Havana Harbor which was a precursor to the Spanish-American War, many attribute yellow journalism as a major factor which brought the US into the war) , their journalism is becoming more yellow every day. The Murky News is interested in selling their trash liners; they are not interested in what’s good for our community.

When elected officials go all out and publicly state their opinion about Hobbs just as Don Gage has, one has to wonder . "He does a lot of things that are not above-board and I don't trust him." From the Metro 10/15/08

Why are the Yes on Proposition 8 folks so angry?

posted by Jacquie at
Not once, but twice, I have had the pleasure of very angry "Yes on Proposition 8" supporters come to my door on a Saturday morning. Both times the supporters have not only been angry, they have tried to tell me things that are just false.

The first time these folks knocked on my door they seemed nice enough at first, but then, when I told them I was against their proposition, they turned, well, angry. First I was told that our state constitution prohibited gay marriage. Of course I tried to set them right, but that didn't go over well. Then I was told that the man (who looked to be in his 60's) didn't want his school aged children being taught that being gay was acceptable. When I told him that being gay was acceptable, he grew a bit more angry. Needless to say he soon realized that I was a "lost cause" and moved on.

The most recent supporter of Prop 8 didn't like my answer to whether or not I was supporting her cause, so she picked up her lawn sign, held it over her head, and walked down my street yelling at the top of her lungs "Yes on 8!" She grew increasingly angry as more and more people on my street turned down her offer of "Yes on 8" signs and told her they were not supporting prop 8.

Not only are the door knockers angry, the whole organization seems to be acting like the mafia. The yes on 8 folks looked up the donors to the No on 8 campaign and sent out a letter which tried to blackmail the "no" donors into supporting prop. 8.

For the life of me I can't understand why, even in our "liberal" area there seems to be so much hate and anger over prop 8. No church will be required to marry a gay couple, no school will be indoctrinating children over "gay marriage," no one will be "forced" into a gay marriage, BUT if prop 8 passes an entire group of people will be told that under our constitution they are not equal.

I thought we were better then that, and I am hopeful that prop 8 is defeated so these angry people will stop knocking on my door.
