Pay attention, Little Saigon folks. If you're going to raise hell after you lose a vote, it helps if it's for a valid cause.
So, have you heard of Prop 8?
Look. How this thing passed in the first place, in this state, I'll never know. But it appears, according to this chart from the LA Times, that our county was a major funding source for the Yes side. So you can stop blaming Obama voters and Mormons for a second. When you point at someone else, your fingers also point at you, or whatever.
Which got us here at San Jose Revealed thinking. When an individual gives money to a cause, it's a private expression of support. But when a business does it, it's like an advertisement. Apple gave a ton of money to oppose Prop 8, certainly aware that it would be public.
So, in the true spirit of revealing San Jose, here are the local businesses, within city limits, who supported or opposed Prop 8. So, depending on how you feel about the issue, you can support or skip them as desired.
Supporters of Prop 8
Apple Gilroy, $100 (Yes, this is in San Jose.)
ASAP Collection Services, $1,000
Hardester Family Partnership, $2,500
K&S Bay Concrete, $200
Law Office of Steven R. Pogue, $500
Platinum Roofing, $250
Opposition to Prop 8
Hugh Cox Landscape, $100 (Tried to find a link to this business to share, but no luck.)
Yes, that's it for businesses. Obviously a lot of groups gave one way or the other, but they're not businesses and, frankly, you can guess who most of them are.
And, again, we just feel that relating how much individuals gave and calling them out publicly seems a bit untoward. I mean, what good does knowing that, say, Larry Pegram, gave $4,000 in support of Prop 8 do anyone?
Oh, shoot. What a mistake.

This list of business contributors, and the total sum contributed, are both far too small for a city of nearly a million. Something must be wrong with the search engine.
Steven R. Pogue is an attorney with 7 children. I'll hazard a guess that he's Mormon - and apparently also a divorce lawyer. http://stevenpoguelaw.com/contact.html.
