Quick Notes

- First and foremost, congratulations are in order to our November 4th Contest winner, Louise Auerhahn. She will, as promised, receive a $25 Amazon gift certificate. Apparently her strategy, for those interested, was betting on Rose Herrera. Just as I recommended. (Not that it wasn't an obvious strategy.)
- On Tuesday, we updated everyone on the ongoing Pulcrano-fraud lawsuit. A commenter on that article shared information worth pulling out - apparently MovieTimes.com (formerly the more gender-specific MrMovieTimes.com) has a new CEO. That's right, taking over for the embattled Dan Pulcrano is one Ari Lee Bayme, formerly of Gorilla Nation, which is some sort of company. (Check out their white paper, "A Bigger Footprint for Engagement: The Media Value of the Mid-Tail"! Pretentious Hobbyist magazine named it 2008's largest collection of buzzwords!)
Good luck with the company, Ari. Make sure those Mexican web designers you use keep up the good work. - Earlier this week, following posts on the campaign, the Pulcrano fraud issue and Tom McEnery's lobbying excesses, I thought to myself - all we need is a bit of the Pandori investigation to make this a banner week for my favorite topics.
Enter, the Mercury News. In an opinion piece lambasting the District Attorneys' union for trying to stem investigations, the Merc writes:The union says it's not reacting to the case of Ben Field, but of course it is. Field is a popular district attorney whom the bar is recommending for an unusual three-year suspension following a lengthy investigation into his conduct dating to 1995. Among findings are evidence that Field concealed critical evidence from defense lawyers and defied court orders.
Emphasis added, of course.
The bar is reported to be taking up complaints against other county prosecutors and at least one private attorney.
All we need now is for this investigation to wrap up sometime before I die, and I'll be content. - A final thought: to the tipster who, every day, sends me multiple items about Little Saigon and the recall and the Mayor and blah blah blah... you've given me a great idea. All Madison needs to do is have you send that information to every voter in District 7 and, by the end of a week, they'll be so sick of the entire thing they'll vote for her just to spite you.

I'm not surprised that Louise Auerhahn won the contest. She has long been known to be one of the smartest people in the Valley. We'll never know, though, if she won because of her political acumen or because she figured out the best way of playing the odds.
You are incorrect when you state that Movie Times, Inc. uses offshore labor.
Every one of our valued staff members is based in the United States. Although the hourly rate for IT services in countries like Mexico is cheaper than in the United States, we have found that the quality of the work delivered by our US employees more than makes up for the difference.
Movie Times, Inc. believes that when you compare the true cost of foreign labor instead of just looking at the hourly rate, it makes more economic sense to stick with US based IT staff. We hope that other companies in our industry take the time to do the same analysis.
Sincerely,
Ari Lee Bayme
Chief Executive Officer
Movie Times, Inc.
