Oh, Dan. That's Not Openness We Can Believe In.

Let me be upfront. I don't like Dan Pulcrano. I don't like his crummy, pseudo-progressive paper, I don't like his adolescent obsession with purty girls, I don't like how he makes money by running ads for prostitution, I don't like his ham-handed attempts to influence the City's politics. For those who have read this website even once, I'm sure none of this is a surprise.

I do like this: that he is being sued for fraud. (For those not up to speed on the case, a review might be helpful before we continue.)

Next Tuesday is a big day for the case, as the court hears a motion to compel. Seems Dan Pulcrano, the Leadership Group's appointee to the City's Sunshine Task Force, doesn't like the sunlight himself, true to his vampire nature. Specifically, the court indicated that he should provide information about the contested MrMovieTimes.com (MMT) to his accuser, Jonathon Brant Finley - information Finley hasn't gotten to see.

According to the full motion, the defendants (Pulcrano and his company, Boulevards) agreed in April to provide tax returns, accounting materials, meeting minutes and documents related to bank accounts. In some of the communication back-and-forth, Pulcrano's attorney offers this excuse:
Pulcrano is focused on saving MMT. No doubt.
Yes! He's working overtime to ensure he provides the best information he possibly can. He's certainly not spending time endorsing Obama, or writing for San Jose Inside or the Metro, and God forbid he should go to the clubs! Or election night parties!

The plaintiff, Finley, did get one nugget of information. It seems, according to bank documents, that MMT generates over $300,000 a year in revenue.
Cash rules everything around me.
Apparently, outsourcing your web work to Mexico, an initiative Pulcrano rubber-stamped, can be lucrative.

We here at San Jose Revealed will, of course, keep you posted on further developments. We keep our cards close to our chest too, of course, but are happy to let San Jose know that Pulcrano is holding a deuce and five, off-suit.

Oh, while I'm thinking of it: Tom McEnery was sued for copyright infringement by Don King in the 1990s. Presumably over the hairstyle.
Just put them in the ring!
